Filia Rose – a cottage industry based on the Greek island of Lesvos
In a little village in the north of Lesvos is a village – Filia, which in Greek means friendship.
With a population of around 600-650 residents, here is the home of Filia Rose – a cottage industry based founded by Eleni Sivri.
The roses – Damascus roses – as well as the grapes and figs, are from the family fields and cultivated with traditional methods for generations-without preservatives, food colouring or sugar.
Eleni has put such care and pride in her products and it is always a pleasure to chat with her!
She gives lovely tours of the land that was from her family’s past generations for harvesting gigs and grapes and now roses. Such a rich heritage!
Definitely a must-see /experience when visiting your favourite Greek island.
Insider Tip: if you come around May, you quite possibly may be around for rose harvesting season which is a fun early morning experience with Eleni! 💕
