i love travel. hello. why on EARTH would i not only have travel the theme of my blog design, but also have a DAY each week set aside for anything travel. i was born to travel. i remember as far back as i can remember, my dad subscribed to NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC magazines. you know, THOSE yellow ones. and ANY time there was a map of ANY kind, it would automatically go on my wall in my room. i dont know what about maps and the world fascinated me so. THAT may be an entirely different blogpost of its own. 😉
my travel tuesday blogpost schedule changed up for a couple weeks – i had weeks of ITALY locations on my schedule. but due to the postponement of my FOLLOW YOUR HEART trip to italy this next month, my heart couldn’t bare to talk about italy cuz it was sad. luckily it lasted only briefly and i am already thinking about my next tour to italy. postponement doesn’t mean never. it just means postponed – until a later date. 🙂
so with that, i’m BACK on schedule! 🙂
today we are on the LIDO, one of the islands in the venetian lagoon. when i was last in venice, 10 months ago, i decided i wanted to stay on the lido as opposed to right in venice. a different adventure and something new to experience. i am SO glad i did!
the lido is different from venezia. one, they have a ferry that allows cars to be driven on it. in fact there are even buses that take you up and down the lido! it was SO weird to see!
the atmosphere on the lido is one that i could definitely live on. i always thought i wanted to live in venice..but i think the lido would suffice – less tourists and the short trip via boat to beloved venice would make it possible to visit and wander at any given moment.
i would definitely own a pedal bike on the lido. 🙂
i had woken up early on the sunday morning i made my way from rome to venice. i took a train and watched the sun rise just after 6am as i waited for my train.
once our train landed in sta lucia train station on venice, it was off to find my boat, or vaporetto, to take me to theLIDO. it was a typical overcast autumn day and the waves were many.. 🙂
i had booked my ADORABLE little room via expedia at hotel rigal. i will DEFINITELY stay there again too! 🙂
once i checked in and was totally smitten with my hotel, i got myself ready to walk thru a little part of the lido to the ferry to take me to venice…
i loved how there was no one around..just the odd local peeking out now and then…
i have ALWAYS been infatuated with laundry hanging in italy, especially venice. LOVE!
getting closer to touristy areas..note also the ramps, as it was acqua alta season.
