I am so looking forward to our first FYH Travels of 2017 coming in just a few week – our Philippines – GO LOCAL! RoadTrip.
We will start with a day in Old Manila – eating our way through Binondo (Chinatown) and heading to the walled city, Intramuros for an amazing walking tour with my friend Carlos Celdran who does an awesome theatrical history of Manila and the Philippines called “Walk This Way”.
The next day we start heading north to Banaue, one of the countries 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites we will visit on our itinerary. Some light hiking to some villages, rice terraces and waterfalls in the area and then onwards to Sagada. We will stop at the Bontoc Museum en route to Sagada where we will see the infamous “hanging coffins”.
The scenery of the mountain regions of the Philippines is truly breathtaking. Then we will make our way east to the coast as we reach another UNESCO site – the historic town of Vigan. There we will walk back in history as we wander the stone streets and learn the past of this beautiful town.
To bring this trip all together we will head just south of Manila, where we will stay overnight to regroup and prepare for 3 nights on the beaches of Puerto Galera – a world famous diving destination and home to some very lovely beaches close to Manila (about 3+ hrs south). There’s lots to do there – snorkeling, swimming in waterfalls, visiting the Mangyan village…or simply just laying on the beach catching rays. 🙂
A fun time embracing local culture, eating local cuisine, seeing how the locals “do life”. This 13D/12N GO LOCAL! RoadTrip will wet your palette to come back and discover more of its 7,107 islands for sure!
Contact me if this sounds like something you would like to join us on – we have 2 places left!
The dates again are Feb 4 – 15.
