The beautiful Palace Mnebhi in Fes || Morocco Destination Highlight

One of the highlights when visiting Fes is the Palais Mnebhi.

NOt only is this remarkable palace one of the most beautiful, it took over 15 years of work to make it such. Local workers labored away until the late nineteenth century to build it. It was here, at this palace in Fez, that the Protectorate Treaty between France and Morocco was signed in 1912 by Marshal Lyautey.

The palace is located right in the medina and covers one hectare of land, in the Souikt Ben Safi area.

We had a great local guide, Mohammed, who had a wealth of information and answered everyone’s questions about this great piece of architecture.

Intricately decorated inside with rooms organized around two large courtyards with traditional decor and with three gardens filled with fountains, ponds and benches and a gorgeous view from the roof terrace, the Mnebhi Palais is indeed a sight to behold. It is used for conferences and events now and also has a lovely Moroccan restaurant.
